Join us at BUEI Talks for a journey beneath the waves and into Bermuda’s unknown, unseen and largely unexplored subsea world. Oliver Steeds, Nekton’s Mission Director, will reveal some of the extraordinary discoveries made by the team during this summer’s Mission, including a previously unknown forest on Plantagenet Bank. Nekton’s first research programme, sponsored by reinsurer XL Catlin, uses new standardised methodology for measuring physical, chemical and biological indicators to assess the function, health and resilience of the deep ocean. Cutting edge submersibles, remotely operated vehicles and technical divers were all deployed in Nekton’s pioneering mission to explore the deep ocean around Bermuda.
